Fiesta at Playa Calatagan
December 30, 2005 | 12:00am
Landco Pacific treated their friends and loyal followers to a day of fun and laughter under the sun in their newest beachside community, Playa Calatagan, the countrys first mixed-use seaside residential resort and leisure-tourism complex. They previewed the visitors to the 74-hectare property that will soon be the next generation tourism and residential hub just 2-1/2 hours from Manila.
"No one has done this kind of project in this part of Luzon," Francis Ceballos, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Landco, explains. Playa combines the elements of a first class residential subdivision and tourist destination with no need to purchase a proprietary club share.
After their flagship developments Peninsula de Punta Fuego and Terrazas de Punta Fuego, Landco was challenged to conceptualize the next big thing in the seaside residential resort category. According to Patrick Villano, Landco Pacific vice president and residential resorts head, Playa was inspired by the question, "Whats next?" This is why Playa was conceptualized to feature both commercial and residential components.
In the exclusive residential area, families can enjoy the beach, the clubhouses, the parks, and the privacy of their own homes. The commercial component on the other hand, allows customers to enjoy a variety of activities such as entertainment, shopping, dining, and the like. Playa Calatagan is not only intended to be a "destination," but also a place with a "Boracay feel" to it a place where people could entertain themselves and socialize within a stones throw from the tranquility and privacy of their own homes.
As a commercial area, the leisure complex is designed to cater to a broad spectrum of the market. This is a 525-meter part of a two-kilometer beach front with hotels, restaurants, retails shops, spas, picnic lawn and amenities in a pedestrianized environment meaning, everything will be conveniently located within 400 meters. It will be a seaside tourist destination featuring local cuisine, souvenir shops, and other services that would make it a "Calatagan-experience" like no other.
Landco is also proud that Playa Calatagan is located just 15 minutes away from the famous 150-year-old lighthouse, Punta de Santiago, which is being restored. There will be numerous activities in Playa, plenty of sights to see, lots of retail stores to shop in, food to taste and memories to treasure.
On the other hand, future residents can enjoy privacy away from the tourists with their very own beach club complete with cabañas, a juice bar and grill, a social hall and a highly innovative "river pool" that is designed to look like it flows naturally from a nearby spring.
