Nightlife essentials at The Wharf

-
As the sun disappears into the horizon, the city comes to life with the flickering of neon lights that bathe the metropolis with an unmistakable glow. Night has fallen, yet it is at this point that the city is most awake and teeming with life.

For motorists driving along the South Super Highway, one light shines brighter than the rest — beckoning weary travelers to stop, enjoy an excellent meal over a good conversation, and come home less jaded from urban worries and concerns.

This light emanates from The Wharf, a centerpiece of urban entertainment and convenience at the heart of Brittany Bay and is the newest happening place south of Manila. It is a unique community inspired by the lifestyle and architecture of San Francisco. The brainchild of Brittany Corp., the master planner and builder of fine communities, The Wharf, along with the Brittany Bay community is a reflection of the maverick real estate developer’s unique understanding of what it means to truly be alive and living to the fullest.

"When we said that Brittany Bay is a community, we meant it in every sense of the word. And that means including a commercial hub where people can dine, listen to music, and have the opportunity to meet socially with their neighbors. People need a place to go to unwind. Building a community is not just about constructing homes and a clubhouse. The Wharf exemplifies Brittany Corp.’s commitment to our clients. We are always willing to take that extra mile if only to ensure that everything will literally be at their fingertips," explained Brittany Corp. president Jing Serrano.

While most people find it a surprise to hear that the place is called The Wharf when it is situated right in the middle of the South Super Highway (just beside the Sucat tollgate), before long they will realize the reason for such a name. Behind this neo-Victorian structure is the Laguna de Bay and a table on the second level of The Wharf provides a breath-taking view especially on a clear night. In a way, the name pays homage to the lake and everything it provides to sustain life around it.

Its architecture, characterized by bay windows and ornate adornments, is inspired by the lifestyle of San Francisco. It is this unique blend of sophistication and coziness that The Wharf hopes to mirror with its multi-level structure that can accommodate both large gatherings and intimate dates, beautifully landscaped grounds that shield diners from the hustle and bustle of commuter traffic along the highway, and carefully chosen dining outlets that cater to a more refined palate.

"The Wharf is the commercial component of Brittany Bay," Jing added. "It is intended to provide the entertainment and lifestyle needs of current and future residents. Ultimately, because of how it was planned, it has now become the place to be in Sucat."

Dencio’s Grill, Grappa’s, Figaro, Gloria Maris and Murasaki, a Japanese restaurant, are among the dining outlets that now call The Wharf home. Soon to join the growing family is Brother’s Burger. For those with more artistic pursuits, the Bay Center for Music and Arts provides dance and music lessons.

At the heart of The Wharf is the main stage that occupies over 300 sqm. Here, various bands take turns at the center stage on Friday and Saturday nights to entertain diners. Brittany Bay provides them with a wide variety of music to cater to the varied tastes of their audience. Some nights feature retro, at other times it would be acoustic or trio-acoustic. Even solo performers get invited once in a while. Otherwise, the area is also open for rental, be it an office party or a wedding reception. Indeed, The Wharf is a place teeming with activities day and night.

An interesting aspect of The Wharf, Jing notes, is the synergy that exists among its tenants. They view each other more as partners rather than competitors. An example of which is the openness to accommodate varied dining choices within a single party. A group of 10, he explained, may choose to occupy a table at Dencio’s. But if one or two would like a specific dish from Grappa’s, both restaurants are more than happy to oblige.
