Importance of controlled lighting

Aside from helping promote growth and progress through proper illumination, good and efficient lighting enhances the aesthetic value and ambiance of a home or office, create a harmonious and convivial environment, and increases productivity and efficiency in the work place.
On the other hand, inefficient and unregulated lighting can lead to serious problems that can cause physical harm, especially to the human eye, and during these difficult times of rising energy costs even result in increased electricity consumption.
Nowhere is the uncontrolled and inefficient use of lighting more prevalent than in some big manufacturing plants and business offices which resort to the use of infringed, sub-standard lighting products ostensibly to save on costs but end up spending more in terms of higher electricity costs, wastage of illumination and reduced productivity of workers due to poor illumination.
Maxilum, Inc., a 25-year-old Filipino company that manufactures aluminum lighting fixtures and louvers, has launched a patented energy-saving lighting louver product called Maxilum Matte Finish Louver that can be installed in lighting fixtures to eliminate glare that usually causes eye strain.
According to Maxilum, Inc. president Luisito Figueroa, the installation of louvers in computer rooms is highly recommended as a means to protect the computer operator against the gamma light rays that bounce off the computer screen and deflect towards the user.
Figueroa explained that a popular misconception that should be corrected about the use of louvers and the big consumption of electricity it entails.
He said that compared to light diffusers, which are made of acrylic or prismatic plastic, less number of fluorescent lamps are needed if louvers are used to achieve the desired illumination, thus resulting in lower electricity consumption.
Unlike plastic diffusers, which warp and lose efficient light transmission over time, a non-reduction in the transmission of light can be experienced in louvers and, therefore, a decrease in illumination at any given time besides the aesthetic appearance it creates
Another advantage of Maxilum Matte Finish Louvers is their non-susceptibility to dirt and other particles in the environment such as dust, soot and grime because of their use of non-corroding pre-treated substrate coated with aluminum, which is static-free.
In addition, the non-corroding substrate gives Maxilum Matte Finish Louvers an indefinite lifespan, notwithstanding its affordable price, because they are not susceptible to rust or decay.
Maxilum Matte Finish Louvers are also fingerprint-proof and maintains the color and sheen of their surface for an indefinite period of time from the date of installation.
Among the major business establishments and institutions using Maxilum Matte Finish Louvers are Equitable PCIBank, Philippine Veterans Bank, Kawasaki Philippines, Philippine National Oil Company, and many more.
