A worthy family investment

Sylvia has always found enthusiasm for her job at Caltex Philippines. As the companys manager of the retail and national accounts lubricant sales and marketing division, she knows the importance of having good judgment and foresight. Having invested thirty years working for the company has taught her the value of hard work and careful planning for her own future.
She discovered La Finca, a unique farm and country resort in Lipa, Batangas that fit her eventual retirement needs. She saw the development and was enamored with the tranquil ambience immediately. "I got to know about it through an officemate. A friend also bought a lot there. Initially when I looked at it, I knew it was for my retirement, but at that time I was also considering buying a condo unit."
Sylvia took time to study her options when a family concern manifested. "My Dad suffered serious health problems during the time; my siblings and I were at a loss as to what to do. One of the things we talked about was to look at La Finca again. They liked it, so we decided to get it as a family retirement place. Its primarily for my Dad, because we wanted him to go around safely where theres a garden. Its within a small community near nature, and has the atmosphere of a resort."
The family members agreed that the environment provided the ideal setup where they can enjoy their golden years, according to Sylvia: "Its a joint effort. We will all help in buying the lot as well as in building the house. Its a good project for us; were going to be together more often to bond. Realistically, were building the house by next year."
She is also looking forward to enjoying time for herself. She enjoys painting using different media, as well as other worthwhile activities. "We all love cooking. Its a very social thing for us. We will hold cooking sessions, and get fresh produce from our garden. I guess thats my Moms legacy. She loved to cook and that love is passed on to us."
As far as the eventual change of environment is concerned, she offers that the experience will be like rediscovering her roots. "I was surprised because Lipa is so progressive. My mothers ancestors were from there. When you turn from the access road going to La Finca, the atmosphere becomes provincial all of a sudden. Its in a back-to-basics rural setting, but in a very convenient area. When you get out, there are malls, so people can enjoy the best of both worlds. Its very accessible."
