The design plan for the all-weather, 18-hole South Forbes Golf Club is now complete, according to Asias leading golf course designer, the International Management Group (IMG).
Brit Stenson, IMGs Worldwide director of golf course design, expressed pride over the final plans for South Forbes. "We are very excited about this course and feel it could be one of the best precision courses anywhere. The golf course routing plan works carefully with the dramatic site to minimize disturbance and earth moving, to save as much existing vegetation as possible, and to take full advantage of the excellent views the property offers."
When asked about what golfers can expect when they play at South Forbes, he remarked, "All golfers will experience a precision-length course that is both challenging and fun to play. Most golfers will use every club in their bag to complete their rounds The course should be challenging and fun for golfers at all skill levels."
Multiple tees, carefully angled greens, and strategic bunkering will make the course interesting and visually pleasing, according to Stenson. The sloping terrain of South Forbes may entail an adjustment for beginner golfers, but he noted that there will be plenty of areas with flatter lies as well.
Since South Forbes combines both golfing and residential aspects, IMG worked closely with the project team of developer Cathay Land and made several revisions in the process. As for the residential areas, the South Forbes Golf Estates "blend seamlessly with the South Forbes Golf Club landscape and should enjoy spectacular views of golf and river valleys, as well as distant vistas of the surrounding areas." In particular, golfers and visitors at South Forbes will enjoy magnificent views of Laguna de Bay to the east and Mt. Makiling to the south.
In pursuit of IMGs Least Disturbance Philosophy, the design team made an extreme effort to preserve the specimen trees shown on the tree survey. Thus, they had to change several holes during the planning process. "Our initial site visits led us to believe that there are many additional trees not shown on the survey that will give the course a mature look when it opens. We will continue to make small field adjustments to the plans to take advantage of and preserve existing vegetation," Stenson promised. A good number of lakes were also added to the final design plan. These are existing low areas can be easily turned into ponds to challenge golfers, for aesthetic purposes, and for stormwater management.
The world-class, 18-hole South Forbes Golf Club is exclusive to all residential and condominium unit owners at the 250-hectare South Forbes Golf City. Envisioned as the countrys very first golf resort city, South Forbes perfectly combines residential, commercial, office, sports, and resort components to improve the quality of life of residents.
South Forbes is the first to offer free golf membership, at no activation fee. In addition, their free golf membership entitles them to get preferred access to and discounted rates at 42 international-caliber golf clubs worldwide through IMG SportsClub.
