It was just March of last year when Gardenia Bakeries Philippines, Inc. (GBPI) inaugurated its world-class and ultra-modern plant. With it came a remarkable growth unseen in the bread-manufacturing industry and despite the prevailing economic condition, bread sales exceeded the P500-million mark with the help of its expanded distribution network and innovative marketing approaches.
Through its concerted marketing efforts, the company surpassed its yearly sales target with a growth of 65 percent mainly because of quality product offerings that generated widespread acceptance among consumers, and a host of new products that were the result of painstaking research in order to get a full grasp of the markets preference.
The company also recently expanded its distribution network, with the aroma and softness of freshly baked and tasty Gardenia breads now being enjoyed by families in the countrys summer capital, Baguio City. But one thing thats most interesting about the company, particularly the state-of-the-art computerized bread manufacturing plant in Laguna, is that it has become a favorite excursion and field trip site by schools.
The future remains bright for Gardenia, declares Simplicio Umali Jr., General Manager of Gardenia Bakeries Philippines, Inc., as a January-February sales continue to increase by over 45 percent compared to last year. "To cope with this unexpected growth," he said, "we need to invest further and increase plant capacity."
In a simple groundbreaking ceremony, Umali bared that the company will again expand its existing plant by putting in more facilities and equipment to increase production. "Last year was a remarkable and great year for us. What you have just witnessed today will kick off another major investment for Gardenia," he said.
