NAMPICUAN, Nueva Ecija Some 800 families belonging to the so-called group of informal settlers or squatters in the municipality of Nampicuan will soon be awarded titles to the homelots they occupy with the completion of the land titling project launched jointly by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the municipal government.
Mayor Louie Verayo told The STAR that titles for the 95-hectare San Lazaro property at the Poblacion will soon be awarded to the families.
Verayo said that the titles to be issued are original certificates of title (OCT) whose processing had been undertaken by the DENR in coordination with the town goverment.
He said that the squatter families deserve to receive the titles inasmuch as they are original occupants in the area.
The land titling is the biggest so far undertaken in Nampicuan as it embraces nine of the towns 21 barangays. Manny Galvez
