Handyman turns over house donation

-
Handyman recently turned over its house donation to the Dominguez family, the beneficiary of its "Donate-A-Nail" project. Edmundo, Arlyn and their children were welcomed to their new house in Maria Luisa Subdivision in Caloocan City by Handyman president Willy Co, general manager Jody Gadia, and other officers like Abel Tejam, Ruel San Juan, Millied de Villa, Ronald Rubi, and Jane Austria and Habitat for Humanity’s Ritchie Davila, Yoly Sanchez and Judelyn Abeto.

This is the first time that Dominguez family will have a home of their own. Although they have long wished to have their own unit, Arlyn’s salary as an electronic data processing assistant and Edmundo’s earnings as a part-time waiter were not enough for them to afford one.

Aside from sponsoring the construction of the house through a financial donation, meanwhile, Handyman also contributed building materials with the help of its various suppliers. It also urged its customers to help in the project by giving tools that were offered at discounted prices and coin banks were placed inside its stores to encourage contributions.

Handyman executives, store managers and staff also participated in the "build activity" during the initial stage of construction last November 2002.

Handyman launched its "Donate-A-Nail" project last year in support of Habitat for Humanity’s "Tulong Mo, Tahanan Ko" initiative, which aims to provide decent shelters for less privileged families.

Handyman and Handyman’s Do-It-Best are two of the country’s leading home improvement centers with an extensive nationwide network of 35 branches.
