Pag-IBIG housing design tilt extended

-
The Pag-Ibig Fund is extending the deadline for registration of interested student-participants to the Pag-Ibig housing design competition to Dec. 9 while the deadline for submission of design entries is Jan. 17, 2003. Students may secure the registration forms at any Pag-Ibig office.

The design competition, launched in Sept. 2002, is open to all architecture and civil engineering undergraduate students (fourth to fifth year leaves only), currently enrolled in recognized schools of architecture and civil engineering in the Philippines (schoolyear 2002-2003).

The contest requires full architectural design of a residential unit with emphasis on proper planning, building aesthetics, maximum utilization of floor space and flexibility of design. The competition is divided into category I, for the design of a low-cost housing unit not exceeding P100,000 and category II for the design of a two-story housing unit not exceeding P500,000.

The first prize winner will receive a cash prize of P50,000; second prize, P25,000; and P15,000 for the third prize. Plaques of recognition also be awarded to the winners and the respective winning schools.

The competition aims to stimulate the design capabilities of students towards the development of designs for housing units which may serve as potential model houses for both Pag-Ibig's housing projects and for the winners of the Pag-Ibig Housing Bonds House and Lot raffle promo.

At the same time, the contest hopes to acquaint architecture and civil engineering students with Pag-Ibig Fund's participation in the National Shelter Program and to promote awareness of the Fund's mandate and contribution to national development.
