RESCOP: A decade of professional realty services

-
A decade of private sector-government partnership through the Realty Service Council of the Phils. (Rescop), fostering professional and competent real estate services to the public, will be celebrated on Sept. 17.

Leaders, officers and members of member-associations are expected to join the Rescop 10th anniversary evening program at the Manila Peninsula Hotel ballroom in Makati City for exchange of information, business networking and fellowship.

Trade and Industry Secretary Manuel A. Roxas II himself will grace the occasion as guest of honor and speaker. For Rescop is the advisory body of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) with its Bureau of Trade Regulation and Consumer Protection (BTRCP) as Recop members and its bureau director as chairperson.

Under the program theme "Rescop: A Decade of Government and Private Sector Partnership," the council will hand out recognition plaques to nine real estate sector leaders who served as Rescop heads over the last 10 years. They are Director Ma. Teresa Arao-Mahiwo of the BTRCP; Fernando M. Miranda Jr., Florentino S. Dulalia Jr., Domingo D. de Vera, Jesus L. Motoomull, Lucia A. Aquino, and the late Alberto E. Filamor.

For the last few years, Rescop has been forging closer interaction between the BTRCP and the real estate service sector. This facilitates government monitoring, regulation and consultation with the sector for needed reforms, including the passage of legislation, for the various professional facets of the real estate industry.

More significantly, Rescop has brought together the leaders of the major real estate associations to work towards attaining common objectives, especially efficient, competent and professional real estate services to respond to the varying needs and requirements of the public.

New real estate brokers, appraisers and consultants who recently passed their respective licensure exams of the BTRCP, will take their oath. Newly-elected officers of the Institute of Philippine Real Estate Appraisers (IPREA) and the Realty Service practitioners Multi-Purpose Cooperative (RSPMPC) will also be inducted.

The anniversary program is being organized by a special committee headed by Oscar P. Garcia, president, Institute of Philippine Real Estate Consultants (IPREC), and Federico E. Ruiz, president, Real Estate Brokers Association of the Phils. (REBAP). Working closely with the group are Rescop president Florentio S. Dulalia Jr. and vice-chair Fernando M. Miranda Jr.

Rescop is composed of 11 real estate associations, namely: Chamber of Real Estate and Builders Associations (CREBA), Institute of the Philippine Real Estate Appraisers (IPREA), Institute of Philippine Real Estate Consultants (IPREC), N.A.R. Phils. Inc. (NAR Phils.), National Real Estate Association (NREA), Philippine Association of Realty Appraisers (PARA), Philippine Association of Realty Consultants and Specialists (PARCS), Philippine Association of Realtors Board Inc. (PAREB), Philippine Council of Real Estate Educators (PHILCORE), Real Estate Brokers Association of the Phils. (REBAP), and Realty Owners Association of the Phils. (ROAP). The DTI’s BTRCP is the 12th member.
