Iligan Cement supports local Communities

-
To fulfill the company’s commitment to support its communities, Iligan Cement Corporation through its Training and External Relations Division has conducted a series of Community Relations activities (Livelihood Projects and Health Services) in May and June 2002.

Last May 7-9, Iligan Cement Corporation in cooperation with the Office of the City Agriculturist, sponsored training on Pack Bag Making. The training was aimed at providing skills to non-working wives so they could help augment their family income. There were 52 women from Barangays Kiwalan, Dalipuga, Acmac and Sta. Filomena who successfully completed the three-day training. These women are members of the Rural Improvement Club (RIC), a duly registered organization of women. Their initial output will be sold to the ComRel Scholars (high school and elementary) of the company.

Iligan Cement Corporation, a member of the Lafarge Group, also sponsored a series of training/workshop on Livestock Raising last May 8, 10 and 14 to the livestock farmers of Barangays Bunwan, Acmac and Dalipuga. A total of 85 farmers successfully completed the training/workshop, which was conducted by the Office of the City Agriculturist.

Last June 19-20, Iligan Cement Corporation distributed various medicines to Barangays Kiwalan, Dalipuga, Bunawan and Acmac. This is part of the company’s commitment to augment the supply of medicines for the host communities.
