DWPH implements P415-M projects in Nueva Ecija

CABANATUAN CITY — At least P414.8 million worth of infrastructure projects falling under the category "Regular Infra Projects" have been implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 3 office in Central Luzon for 2001.

Alfredo Tolentino, DPWH regional director, told The STAR that the regular infra projects covered majority of the various engineering districts of Central Luzon namely Bataan 1, Bulacan 1 and Bulacan 2, Nueva Ecija 1 and Nueva Ecija 2, Pampanga 1 and Pampanga 2, Tarlac, Tarlac sub-office, Zambales and Olongapo City.

Not covered by the regular infra were Bataan 2 and Angeles City sub-office because there was no fund release as of press time.

Celia Carreon, chief of the DPWH Region 3 office’s monitoring section, said the 2001 regular infra involved a total of 246 projects of which 231 have been completed for an accomplishment rate of 90.76 percent, 11 are ongoing and four NYS or not yet started.

The biggest projects implemented in terms of aggregate projects were under the jurisdiction of Zambales engineering district under district engineer Efren Pacson worth P53.481 million.

The others were the Nueva Ecija 1 engineering district based in Talavera, Nueva Ecija worth P51.6 million and in Bulacan 2 engineering district (P51.289 million), Pampanga 1 (P50 million), Nueva Ecija 2 (P40.9 million), Bulacan 1 (P38.247 million), Tarlac (P33 million), Pampanga 2 (P24.5 million), Pampanga River Control Systems (P20 million), Bataan 1 (P18.6 million), Olongapo City (7.5 million) and Tarlac-sub engineering district (P15.5 million).

Of the engineering districts, six posted 100-percent accomplishment rates, two with 92-percent rates, two with at least 80-percent accomplishment rates.

Of these projects 11, are ongoing, including six in Nueva Ecija. Among them are the Quezon-Aliaga Bridge (P13.87 million) and the Quezon-Aliaga Road (P3.35 million) and a hanging bridge in Barnagay San Andres I, all in Quezon, the Sicsican (Talavera)-Licab Road (P3.13 million) which are covered by Nueva Ecija I engineering district under Pacifico Berin and the P1-million Digmala River Control in Lusok Section, Bongabon town and the P10-million San Antonio-Zaragoza Road in San Antonio which fall under the jurisdiction of Engr. Angelito Twaño.
