MANILA, Philippines — A man who allegedly killed a woman who was found stuffed in a refrigerator in an apartment in Rodriguez, Rizal last month was arrested in Quezon City on Thursday, the Philippine National Police said.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ordered investigators to look into the suspect’s motive, including his denial of involvement and pointing to other people as the perpetrators.

“I trust the skills of our investigators on this case and I expect them to exhaust all the measures to establish the truth behind this incident and solve this case in the soonest possible time,” Nartatez said.

The 32-year-old suspect, identified only as Dan, was in a vehicle when he was arrested by police along Aurora Boulevard in Cubao at 11:27 p.m. He was brought to the Rodriguez police station where he was detained.

Police used an arrest warrant for serious illegal detention issued by the Parañaque Regional Trial Court Branch 195 during the apprehension. The court has not recommended bail.

Col. Allen Rae Co told a news briefing at Camp Crame that investigators are looking at money as a possible motive for the killing, as the victim was allegedly carrying a large amount of cash before she was killed.

“The ballpark figure is around P100,000, but we are not really sure,” Co said.
