Motul is official partner of world time attack

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – The premier world time attack event in the world returns to Sydney Motorsport Park from 17-19 October 2014, and French lubricant specialist Motul will further increase its visibility with an exclusive partnership with the all-new, one-make GT-R class.

This year, organizers Super lap Australia will introduce the much awaited R35 GT-R class to the event, joining four other classes consisting of the best time attack machines from all over the world. The Nissan GT-R has been a hot favorite with tuners, and it was a matter of time before a dedicated class was added to the World Time Attack Challenge (WTAC) event.

For Motul, this partnership enhances the brand’s positioning in motorsports across various levels. One of Motul’s biggest technical partnerships is with NISMO, the motorsports and performance division of Nissan Motor Company. This partnership stretches across the globe, from one-off Super GT GT500 prototypes, GT1 and GT3 machines racing out of Europe, NISMO-prepped 370Z in America, to a co-branded NISMO Competition Oil by Motul that is favored by the most hardcore NISMO enthusiasts. With this strong association with the Japanese manufacturer, being the partner of the R35 GT-R class comes naturally and reaffirms Motul’s standing as the preferred choice for performance-bred Nissan vehicles.

With a strong commitment to R&D so as to constantly improve its products, Motul makes it a point to be heavily involved in all disciplines of motorsports. Today, it is the most widely used lubricant brand in racing and is favoured by over 800 teams worldwide. By being involved in various disciplines—from 24-hour endurance races, drifting, to time attack events—Motul is able to put its motorsports range through all types of racing conditions and use the experience gained to further enhance its products.

Last year’s signing of a technical partnership with Pfitzner Performance Gearbox (PPG), a premium motorsports gearset manufacturer, also ties back to Motul’s association with this brand new time attack class. PPG products are found within some of the world’s fastest GT-Rs and the Australian company only recommends Motul’s driveline products to protect and lubricate their gearsets.

Motul has been a partner to WTAC for the past few years and with this new partnership, Motul will further enhance its presence at the event. An exclusive hospitality lounge will host guests while they enjoy the action on the track, while a dedicated Motul booth will display its wide range of products as well as some heavily modified circuit, and drag GT-Rs. Prominent Motul branding can be expected throughout Sydney Motorsport Park, and on the track, the French lubricant brand will be the technical partner to four teams who will be entering seven cars across four classes.

“Being a partner to WTAC, the premier time attack event in the world, has always been a wonderful experience as they deliver nothing but the best every year. The new R35 GT-R class is the perfect stage to showcase the co-branded NISMO Competition Oil and allows us to reach NISMO enthusiasts who can enjoy the very same product that Motul and NISMO have spent years to develop and refine. Our flagship range, the 300V, remains the product of reference in racing and is perfectly suited for pure-bred time attack machines that require the best and most consistent performance from their engine,” explains Gregoire Zaugg, Head of Sales and Marketing for Motul Asia Pacific.

Commenting on the partnership, Ian Baker, CEO of Superlap Australia said: “Motul has been a long-time supporter and partner to the World Time Attach Challenge event and there is a mutual view to continue this partnership for many years to come. In 2014, Motul became the class sponsor for the new and very exciting one-make R35 G-TR time attack class. The R35 G-TR is the current flagship supercar of the Nissan sports car range and with Motul being the technical partner of Nissan Motorsports Japan (NISMO), this is unquestionably a perfect fit for the Motul brand. And with two of the fastest tuner G-TRs on the planet arriving from Japan this class is certainly one that will have the eyes of the world on it in October and is also the class we expect to see significant growth in moving forward.”
