Refined and redefined 2014 Chevrolet Captiva 4x2 Diesel features fresh design, new tech

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Chevrolet Philippines continues to reinforce its strong presence in the diesel-powered vehicle category through the reintroduction of the refined and redefined 2014 4x2 Chevrolet Captiva. Boasting a 2.0-liter CRDi turbo-diesel engine with 6-speed automatic transmission, the Captiva is Chevrolet’s very well-received compact SUV known for its superior ride and handling, commendable SUV capabilities, and numerous modern features. Now sporting a bold front end, an elegant overall design, and new advanced technologies and features, the 2014 Captiva will appeal to those looking for a contemporary, spacious, and luxurious compact SUV that delivers impressive performance.

The Captiva’s 2.0-liter CRDi turbo-diesel engine produces 161hp and a generous 360Nm of torque that provides its user impressive power and acceleration for overtaking maneuvers and climbing steep and challenging roads. With its Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) technology, the Captiva delivers instant turbo-lag-free acceleration and response. Like other Chevrolet diesel-powered models, the Captiva delivers commendable fuel efficiency and now, with a new 6-speed automatic transmission with manual select option and ECO drive mode, the Captiva can produce better fuel consumption ratings which will redound to more value and savings.

Like every world-class Chevrolet, the Captiva exudes a commanding presence with its sleek, bold lines, masculine corners and its signature dual-port grill with the iconic Bowtie insignia at its center. The rear bumper is remodeled with integrated, stylized chrome exhaust tips and new rear light clusters that projects a more sophisticated look. The curves and corners of the Captiva are not crafted purely for aesthetic purpose but is also an aerodynamic design that allows the compact SUV to slice through air with minimal wind resistance. To add flair to its appearance, the Captiva is equipped with projector headlamps, redesigned front bumper with more elegant foglight covers, LED taillights, standard roof rails and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Capable of seating seven adults (when all seats are in the upright position) and a trunk space that increases up to 1,577 liters when both 2nd and 3rd row seats are folded, the Captiva may arguably be the most spacious compact SUV in its segment. The flexible folding of both 2nd and 3rd allows you to transport irregular shaped cargos with ease. Ample storage spaces are smartly placed within the vehicle to make sure that loose items are properly organized.

The Captiva promises a smooth and quiet ride thanks to its McPherson strut and stabilizer, 4-dimension, multi-link suspension system. The Captiva’s impressive load bearing capabilities can be partly attributed to the self-leveling system that works to distribute weight equally around the car to accommodate large loads and uneven passenger distribution

Equipped with loads of comfort and convenient features such as Bluetooth connectivity for mobile phones and MP3 players, six audio speakers, steering wheel-mounted audio controls and air conditioner setting controls and dual climate control, the Chevrolet Captiva elevates the standard of pleasurable driving experience.

To make sure that the driver and passengers of the 2014 Captiva are far from harm’s way, the Captiva is equipped with rear suspension auto-leveling which prevents the vehicle from assuming a nose-up-tail-down stance under heavy loads. This feature also distributes the weight more evenly, increasing safe handling and braking. Anti-lock brakes provide better control of the vehicle when on slippery roads while driver and passenger airbags deploy in unavoidable collisions. Rear park assist and rear window defogger help the driver to maneuver while reversing. With its new electronic parking brake feature, not only does the technology provide more space, it also lessens the risk of driving the vehicle while the handbrake is engaged and accidental rolling of vehicle while parked.

The new and enhanced Captiva 4x2 has a starting price of P1,298,888 for the 4x2 AT gas variant and P1.398,888 for the 4x2 AT diesel variant. To make things even sweeter, Chevrolet is offering a P128K all-in lowdown promo until September 30, 2014. The Captiva also comes with a 5-year warranty and 3-year free 24/7 roadside assistance.
