MANILA, Philippines - After staging the Peugeot Eco Fun Run series last year, official Peugeot importer and distributor Eurobrands Distributor Inc. (EDI) formally crowned the fuel economy kings last November 16, 2013. In the owners division, it was the husband-and-wife tandem of Arcadio and Mary Elizabeth Tolentino who took top honors as they averaged 28.5 km/l on board a Peugeot 508 1.6 e-HDi Microhybrid. Topping the guest division, meanwhile, was the team of Ronnie Trinidad and Tinni Isaguirre, who achieved an amazing 28.5 km/l, on board a Peugeot 3008 1.6 e-HDi Microhybrid. Both teams earned the Peugeot Eco Fun Run grand prize, a trip for two to the home of Peugeot – Paris, France.
During the recently concluded trip, both winning teams were able to visit the Peugeot head office along Grand Armee in Paris as well as the birthplace of Peugeot in Sochaux. “The trip opened our eyes to the magnitude of Peugeot’s influence in the automotive world – especially in Europe. We are grateful to EDI and to Peugeot for allowing us to experience driving a great fuel miser in the form of the 3008 Crossover and for allowing us a glimpse at the bigger picture – an automotive macro perspective through the lens of a carmaker with more than a hundred years of experience. It really was an eye opener for us,” says Trinidad.
Incidentally, Trinidad and Isaguirre, long-time sweethearts, got engaged while on the trip. “It all fell into place. Awesome car, awesome brand, awesome trip… It was a great new chapter in our love story. Everything was truly a blessing. We thank EDI and Peugeot for the wonderful experience,” echoed Isaguirre.
While initially the goal of the Peugeot Eco Fun Run was to highlight the fuel-saving capabilities of Peugeot’s local offerings, it’s clear that with everything falling into place, eventually the Peugeot Eco Fun Run embodied the French automotive brand’s tagline of “motion and emotion.” Sometimes, what is truly essential simply falls into place.
