2013 Mazda CX-5 receives J.D. Power APEAL award

MANILA, Philippines - The J.D. Power APEAL study ranked the 2013 Mazda CX-5 as the highest-ranking vehicle in the Compact CUV segment. According to the J.D. Power 2013 US Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) study, the most appealing vehicles tend to remain on dealer lots for shorter periods, command higher transaction prices and are more likely to create owner loyalty when they are ultimately traded in.

The CX-5 is Mazda’s first vehicle to fully incorporate SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY as well as the KODO “Soul of Motion” design language. Offering best-in-class fuel economy with i-STOP engine idling technology, the 2013 CX-5 also boasts Zoom-Zoom-inspired driving dynamics and superior safety.

“The Mazda CX-5 has been a tremendous new product for us in the Philippines. They really do not stay in the dealer stock yard very long,” says Steven Tan, president and CEO of Mazda Philippines. Now on its 18th year, the J.D. Power APEAL Study reveals actual owners of the vehicles who were surveyed after the first 90 days of ownership rank the CX-5 highest. Among the vehicles evaluated by more than 83,000 purchasers and lessees who were part of the study are a total of 105 Sport Utility Vehicles classified under eight categories. In the Compact Crossover Utility Vehicle class, the Mazda CX-5 ranked ‘among the best’ in Overall Performance and Design, Performance and the Features and Instrument Panel attributes. It is billed ‘better than most’ in Comfort and Style parameters.

The J.D. Power APEAL Study surveys how rewarding of an experience a new vehicle is to own and drive based on actual owner ratings of 77 vehicle qualities. The results of the APEAL study are likewise used comprehensively by car manufacturers, to guide them in designing and developing more appealing vehicles, as well as by consumers to aid in their purchasing choices.

The study likewise complements other notable accolades garnered by the Mazda CX-5 in its first year of release such as the 2012-2013 Japan Car of the Year and the Best 4x2 Crossover in the 2012-2013 Philippine Car of the Year.

The 2013 Mazda CX-5 comes in three variants: the 2.0L 2WD with SKYACTIV 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission, and the 2.5L AWD SPORTS with 6-speed SKYACTIV automatic transmission. All variants of the Mazda CX-5s are equipped with Mazda’s SKYACTIV chassis, powertrain, and fuel-efficiency technologies, all of which deliver unparalleled driving enjoyment as well as exceptional environmental and safety performance.
