A Lego-centric promo from Shell
MANILA, Philippines - Shell has been known for its affinity with the prancing horses of Ferrari, and also for coming up with promotions that piggyback on the iconic car brand and, particularly, its racing heritage.
Now Shell once again appeals to the inner child in everyone with exclusive models of classic Ferrari vehicles made of Lego bricks. Yes, it’s the Lego toymaker of our youth—that Danish company that has challenged our creativity and imagination since 1949.
Six limited-edition Ferrari models are up for grabs until November 30. The buildable Lego models are available for P140 each with every P1,500 purchase of Shell V-Power Nitro+ Racing Gasoline or Diesel (single or accumulated amount), and P180 for an equal purchase of Shell FuelSave Unleaded or Diesel.
Shell customers availing of any participating Shell Helix Oil Change Package will receive a unit of the Lego model or mini-figures for free.
The six featured Lego Ferrari model cars are bannered by the F150° Italia, the 2011 F1 car driven by Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso. Owners will have the option to change the livery. Interesting, the lineup includes the Scuderia Ferrari Truck, that equally famous transport truck that ferries the Ferrari motor racing team.
Then there’s the Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta passo corto (SWB), the “first Ferrari road car to use disc brakes,” distinguished by its familiar round headlights. The Ferrari F40, the classic mid-engine sports car made from 1987 to 1992, is also interpreted by Lego—with its square rear spoiler immediate recognizable.
Meanwhile, based on the Enzo is the high-performance Ferrari FXX, executed by Lego in black with a racing stripe. Finally, there’s the Ferrari 458 Italia, one of the most desirable cars—Ferrari or otherwise—today. Lego has reproduced its triple exhaust pipes and multi-LED headlamps.
For these exclusive models, Lego (working with Shell) unveils and snaps on its smallest pull-back motor—the first time a Lego toy of this size will have powered wheels. Shell says the toys “are capable of performing a minimum of 300 pulls, propelling a 30-gram vehicle a minimum of two meters.”
In addition to the Ferrari car models, Shell and Lego release three unique mini-figures: a Ferrari refueling engineer, a Shell track scientist, and Ferrari race mechanic. For more information, visit shell.com.ph/lego.
