MANILA, Philippines - Motor Image Pilipinas has finally given the all-new fourth-generation Subaru Impreza a star-studded welcoming party by formally introducing it at the culmination activity of the Subaru Impreza Challenge at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. The all-new Impreza features a bolder, more dynamic design along with an all-new highly-efficient powertrain. In addition, the Impreza gains increased interior room, higher levels of refinement, new amenities, and high-grade interior materials. All in all, Subaru is confident that the Impreza will offer a more rewarding driving and ownership experience like never before.
Under the hood of the all-new Impreza is a new-generation “boxer” engine called the FB20. This all-new engine features dual overhead cams and together with dual Active Valve Control System, it delivers excellent efficiency and low emissions without sacrificing the sporty nature that the Impreza is known for. The 2.0-liter engine generates 150 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque and can be equipped with a choice between a 6-speed manual or the new Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission or CVT. The CVT transmission actually contributes in making the Impreza the most fuel-efficient all-wheel drive car. However, for those in a sporty mood, the CVT also contains a 6-speed manual mode with steering wheel paddle shifters which allow the driver to control the transmission via six pre-set ratios.
Strengthened suspension components—some inherited from the Legacy—enhance agility, while new liquid (hydraulic) engine mounts help damp out vibration. The Impreza retains the sophisticated double-wishbone rear suspension with new, strengthened components and pillow ball bushings for improved ride, straight-line stability, and handling response.
The all-new Impreza is offered in just one body style—a 4-door sedan but in two trim levels, the 2.0i and 2.0 i-S. The Impreza conveys a bolder, more confident design that emphasizes its standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive performance. In profile, the Impreza draws focus to its wheels with powerful wheel arches, a theme that debuted on the Subaru Legacy.
The combination of a longer wheelbase (up 24 mm) and redesigned interior yields gains in passenger and cargo room. The all-new Impreza offers increased hip and shoulder room for the front passengers, while those in back revel in a gain of legroom by close to 51 mm. The trunk room has also been increased with standard 60/40 split-folding rear seats adding flexibility. Plus, the front doors have been lengthened by nearly 127 mm for easier entry and exit.
Inside, the Impreza benefits from richer-looking appointments and details including soft-touch materials on the dashboard, door trim, and center console. Larger door pockets can also hold larger drink bottles and maps, while numerous compartments located in and around the center console can hold all manner of personal items from phones, music players, and sun glasses.
Building on Subaru’s reputation for safety, the Impreza is yet again designated as an IIHS “Top Safety Pick” thanks to a new body structure with greater use of high-strength steel and special stiffening elements at key locations. Plus, the all-new Impreza features a full line-up of safety features including six airbags, ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) with Brake Assist, and Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC).
With a price of P1,158,000, the 2.0i features standard amenities like power folding mirrors with built-in LED turn signal indicators, 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, a 2-DIN single CD player with 6 speakers, USB and aux-in jacks, Bluetooth hands-free, and cruise control. The P1,298,000 2.0 i-S adds even more luxury features such as HID headlamps, 17-inch alloys, a moonroof, rear parking camera, dual zone climate control, and leather seats.
The all-new Subaru Impreza is now available at all six Subaru dealerships nationwide: Greenhills, San Juan; Global City, Taguig; Alabang, Muntinglupa; San Fernando, Pampanga; Mandaue City, Cebu; and Davao City.
