First Taglish motorcycle magazine launched

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s first motorcycle magazine written in conversational Tagalog-English is now available in the market. Motorcycle World (MW) magazine is now preparing to release its third issue, providing interesting features and useful articles on the ever growing world of motorcycles.

Its first issue was launched in June and featured father-and-daughter Randy and Kara David on the cover. The two discussed the importance of education in motorcycle safety. The magazine’s second issue, released in July, had retro scooters as the Riders for Light on the cover. MW editor-in-chief Junep Ocampo said the magazine appeals to 90 percent of motorcycle owners in the Philippines who are more at ease with the local language.

“Our objective main objective in MW is to inform, educate and inspire its readers. The only way we can do that is by making our articles not only understandable but interesting to our readers. That’s why we chose to present it in everyday Taglish language,” he said.

MW is also priced at a level that’s within the reach of ordinary motorcycle owners. “Most magazines are sold at P120 or P125 while MW is sold at only P88,” Ocampo said. But the best thing about MW is its quality. Though aimed at the masses, it is by no means cheap-looking. It is glossy, full-color and sold in plastic packs just like imported magazines.

“Many of our readers are surprised with how we present the magazine. Many of them say they just couldn’t put the magazine down because it is indeed very interesting to read. Our motto is ‘Madaling unawain, masarap basahin.’ Easy to understand, a joy to read,” Ocampo explained.

MW’s first two issues are fast running out in all branches of Booksale and Filbars as well as selected SM Supermarkets. Its third issue focused on extreme trail riding and the loopholes of the Helmet Law is out this week.
