Join the TopGear Design the Spark Race Car Contest
MANILA, Philippines - TopGear Philippines, one of the leading Car magazines in the country, and Chevrolet Philippines, an automotive brand that has been trusted for a 100 years, have collaborated on a project that will give car enthusiasts the opportunity to showcase their creativity. Dubbed as the TopGear Design the Spark Race car contest, the competition challenges all interested participants in giving spunk to a newly modified Chevrolet Spark Race Car. The Spark known as a nimble and efficient mini-passenger car with a massive attitude is given added juice with the help of top automotive suppliers such as Castrol, Speedlab, H&R and Concept One that elevates the Spark’s performance to racing standards.
Castrol providing maximum quality motor oil assures that the newly modified engine is well lubricated and will perform at its best.
Speedlab took care of the engine and built modifications of the car that involved installations of Cold Air Intake (CAI) system with bypass valve, Hot pipes headers, Custom Mid pipe, Custom muffler, Unichip module with NX control, Nitrous Express kit with extra tank, Runstop Big Brake Kit, Scan Gauge, OMP 4 Point Quick Release Harness, OMP racing seats, OMP Steering wheel, OMP Pedals, OMP Shift knob, Custom Roll Cage, Pivot Push Start Switch and Pivot Grounding kit. All mentioned upgrades gave the Spark the maximum performance boost it can get.
H&R Springs and Concept One provided the suspension and tire advancements that provides better handling and traction.
The Spark Race Car was tested as soon as it came out of the Speedlab shop. As posted in the TopGear website video: http://www.topgear.com.ph/top-gear-race-spark the stock Spark 1.2 LT variant average a 15.1 seconds 0-100km/hr. acceleration rate. The modified Chevy Spark race car registered an impressive 12.3 seconds 0-100km/hr. acceleration rate and when used with Nitrous express, it can go up to 10.4 seconds, almost a full 5 second speed differential. Since numbers are quite hard to imagine for others, also posted in the video is a race between the stock 1.2 LT Spark versus the modified version. Of course the race car won hands-down.
Now that TopGear, Chevrolet Philippines and its sponsors have made the building of a Spark race car possible, all it needs is a worthy design that will give it the aesthetic look that it deserves. All those who are interested are invited to register and join the competition. To register and know more about the contest, simply log on to www.topgear.com.ph. Winner will not only take home the cash prize and amazing giveaways, his or her name will also be incorporated in the Spark race car as signature of his/her work. The car will then be displayed in several Spark roadshows to showcase what possible modifications can be done with the amazing Chevy car.
