Honda dares local media with motorcycle riding challenge

MANILA, Philippines - Honda Philippines, Inc., a leading motorcycle manufacturer in the country, challenged the local motoring media once again with the Honda Media Challenge 2011.

Held recently at the Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC), Honda’s world-class driving facility that aims to teach Filipino drivers of safe and responsible driving, the participants from the media this time around used the Honda CBR150R, the first world-class 150cc sports bike in the country that offers PGM-FI technology coupled with sporty yet stylish design, to negotiate a specially designed race course at the Honda Safety Driving Center.

Also, just like in the previous media challenge, Honda Philippines saw the challenge as the perfect opportunity to showcase the features of the world-class, purpose-built facility, whose objective is to promote safe and responsible road usage and driver education.

The challenge involved the media navigating a race course that conforms to globally-accepted road use standards and norms and featuring easy and difficult stages. Again, participants were under the watchful eyes of the challenge supervisor as they traversed the course using the Honda CBR150R, and where they were all timed based on how fast they completed the course with the least number of violations of road standards.

Honda successfully enters the 150cc-engine segment with the PGM-FI technology through Honda CBR150R, further reinforcing their strategy and determination of offering avant-garde innovation to Filipino motorcycle riders.

With the introduction of the Honda CBR150R, Honda has successfully met consumer needs in all motorcycle segments from automatic transmission scooter model, family cub model, business model to the sport motorcycle. Honda CBR150R was developed only for the Philippine motorcycle market with the objective of meeting the needs of Filipino consumers. The new engine provides stronger performance while the design presents a new image of a world-class big bike from head to tail, hoping that the all-new CBR150R will meet the needs of customers after a long wait.

The Honda CBR150R FI is equipped with a 150cc-engine, PGM-FI technology, 4-valve DOHC, 6 gears and liquid cooling system with auxiliary fan. The new design from the headlight to sport cowling and a larger 13-liter fuel tank will enhance efficiency for a longer ride. It is also equipped with illuminated LCD dials that shows engine temperature, fuel speed and odometer and digital clock.

The Honda CBR150R will be available on Ross White, Asteroid Black Metallic and Millennium Red.

The Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC) is a facility similar to the one in Japan, and counts road safety promotion and driver education as among its core activities. The facility was created to educate Filipino drivers and riders regarding road discipline, proper safety mindset and superior driving skills, and with the objective to help reduce the number of traffic accidents and improve traffic in the Philippines.
