Race of Champions weekend

MANILA, Philippines - A historic gathering of the country’s motorsports icons will commence this weekend(Oct.2-3) as the first leg of Concept One’s Race of Champions goes full throttle at the Batangas Race Circuit (BRC). As a special part of the 2010 Philippine Touring Car Championship (PTCC), the Race of Champions will see the old guards of the sport strut their stuff in a Time Attack battle around a controlled and specially designed portion of the BRC track.

It is the first time in local motorsports history that stellar names such as Dante Silverio, Mandy Eduque, Edgen Dy-Liacco, Popong Andolong, Mike Potenciano, Michael Anton, Vip Isada, Pepon Marave and young bloods Ivan Isada and Tyson Sy with the special participation of showbiz personality Ryan Agoncillo will be pitted against one another driving the A-Toy bodykits and BRE built Chevrolet Cruze touring car.

The Race of Champions is organized by the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP), in cooperation with Concept One wheels and Chevrolet Philippines. The three leg event is sponsored by Concept One, Nitto Tires, Certina Watches, A-Toy Paint and Bodykits, Foton, Fuji Film and Seaoil. Media partners of the historic race are The Philippine STAR, The Manila Standard Today, The Manila Times, Business World, Power Wheels Magazine, Top Gear Philippines, C! Magazine, Motoring Today, Power Wheels Radio NU107 and 99.5RT’s Motoring Thursday.

The second leg of the Race of Champions is on November 20-21 at the BRC.
