Special inspection recall campaign for Strada and Montero Sport

-

MANILA, Philippines - Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) recently announced to the Department of Trade and Industry that it will have a special inspection recall of Mitsubishi Strada pick up models which were sold from September 2006 to June 2009 and for Mitsubishi Montero Sport 3.2 GLS and GLS SE 4x4 A/T models sold from September 2008 to February 2009.

The special inspection recall is to check the proper tightening torque of the mounting bolts of the upper suspension arm. The reason for the insufficient initial tightening torque could be caused by possible mis-aligned holes of the two metal sheets of the front upper arm. The inspection procedure is estimated to take 2 hours at the most.

Although there has been no reported occurrence of failures on the front suspension, MMPC was directed by its principal Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Japan to conduct the inspection recall. MMPC also informed the Office of Secretary Jesli Lapuz of the Department and Trade and Industry of the inspection recall plan.

Masahiko Ueki, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Philippines said that MMPC has already mobilized its Customer Service Department to trace the units from its customer data base. He said that all the Mitsubishi Motors Philippines service centers nationwide have been alerted to inspect the problem on all suspected units.

MMPC will be issuing out the Vehicle Identification Numbers of the 6,488 units of Strada pick ups and 2,509 Montero Sport 3.2 GLS and GLS SE 4x4 A/T which could be potentially affected by the insufficient tightening torque. The VIN list will be published on the Mitsubishi website at www.mitsubishi-motors.com.ph. Owners can also get in touch with MMPC Customer Service Department c/o Dave Doctor or Marlon Lim at telephone nos. 658-8406 to 07, or 658-0109 to 16 locals 3085 to 3086 or e-mail them at [email protected] or [email protected] to arrange schedule of inspection.
