Goodyear's Legendary Tough Tyre Gets a Boost

-

MANILA, Philippines - Goodyear Wrangler AT/SA, built with the quiet strength of DuPont™ Kevlar®, a lightweight material five times stronger than steel, fulfills the needs of SUV/Pick-Up enthusiasts in Asia Pacific who want the versatility of on and off road performance. Wrangler AT/SA is a proven performer, providing added durability against road hazards combined with a smoother ride, thanks to its patented SilentArmor technology.

Recently, the Wrangler AT/SA boosted its performance even further. A new enhanced silica blend rubber formula not only maximizes wet traction but also extends tread life by up to 20 percent.

“The newly improved Wrangler AT/SA will certainly raise the bar in the SUV/Pick-Up luxury and mid segments for on and off-road applications,” said Daniel Smytka, Vice President – Consumer Tyres, Goodyear Asia Pacific. “It builds on its legendary toughness with SilentArmor technology for durability and comfort to deliver the most sought after tyre attributes for both on- and off-road worlds.”

“Now with 20% longer mileage, adventure seekers can have the freedom and confidence to pack up and go further, whilst commercial practitioners can always rely on the toughness and versatility of a Wrangler tyre to meets both their work and play needs, but now with a longer lasting tread to provide greater utility value,” said Smytka.

Goodyear’s SilentArmor Technology combines strength with silence. The Wrangler AT/SA features two high-tensile steel belts to improve the tyre’s strength and two layers made with DuPont™ Kevlar® to provide rugged toughness.

Drivers can also enjoy the added benefit of a smooth, quiet ride that comes from Kevlar® as this material helps to absorb road noise. The Kevlar® layers act as a sound barrier, reducing noise for an especially quieter ride.

The optimized tread pattern pitching sequence of the Wrangler AT/SA also adds to a quieter and more comfortable ride by dampening road noise. The addition of a centre-line rib on larger sizes helps reduce noise.

Wrangler AT/SA also features a DuraWall™ Sidewall Compound which improves tyre resistance to cuts and scuffing in the sidewall.

Other features of the Wrangler AT/SA reinforce the tyre’s overall strength and handling abilities both on and off the road.

The Wrangler delivers excellent performance in wet and slushy conditions. An open tread design with a high blade density provides better aquaplaning resistance, while the open intermediate treads groove, deep shoulder notches and multiple block edges and traction ridges ensure increased mud evacuation for better off-road traction.

On the road, additional radial and longitudinal biting edges of the high blade density tread provide better grip in the wet. The centre-line rib on larger sizes also helps improve on road handling.

The new Wrangler AT/SA features an enhanced rim lock and a new anti-slip contour. This provides a stronger, more stable bead area and reduces rim slip for reduced balancing throughout the life of the tyre.

Extensive tyre tests on the company’s on and off road test facilities show that the Goodyear Wrangler AT/SA gives drivers the performance they need in on and off road conditions. The Wrangler AT/SA outperforms its leading competitor and its predecessor in both wet braking and wet handling tests, with a far superior level of treadwear.

The Wrangler AT/SA tyre is available in a 4-rib design and in a 5-rib design for larger sizes. The Wrangler AT/SA 4-rib design is available with 15 and 16 inch rim diameters, while the 5-rib design is available with rim diameters ranging from 15 to 17 inches.
