-

MANILA, Philippines - The Tuason Racing School – Castrol RX7 dominated the first leg of the GT300 division of The GT Grand Prix held at the Batangas Racing Circuit. Driven by no less than Michael Tuason, A multi awarded race car driver and son of legendary race car driver Arthur Tuason. He is also vice president for Technical and Operations of Tuason Racing School, the longest running professional racing school in the country, which he co-founded with brother JP, a seasoned race car driver as well.

This year, with the backing of oil giant Castrol, Mazda Philippines, Goodyear Tires, Coke Zero, Speedlab, Rota Wheels, Starbright Bodykits,Weapon R, Discovery Suites, Fremuff, OMP, Oakley, Toptul, C! Magazine, the team developed the TRS-Castrol RX7 as a super race car. It will contend in drifting and touring car races.

The rotary powered Mazda RX7 competed in the in the GT300 class even though it had only 260 horsepower. It still had to carry the full 1300kg weight penalty for that division.

During the 1st race distance run, the car experienced overheating problems but still took the win in both the Sprint and GT Race. It now gives Tuason, a good lead in the points against the GT veterans running high-powered Sylvias and Type R racecars.
