Audi A5 Coupé wins Gold Design Award

MANILA, Philippines - The Audi A5 Coupé has been presented with the Gold Design Award in the Product Design category by the German Design Council. The announcement has been greeted with delight by the “father” of the car, Walther de ‘Silva, Head of Design for the VW Group since 2007 and formerly Head of Audi Design. “The Audi A5 Coupé is the nicest car I have ever designed and is on track to becoming a design icon,” he said.

The German Design Council had recently announced the winners of the 2010 Design. “Good design, as a distinguishing feature, is an important economic factor and especially so in times of crisis,” says Andrej Kupetz, Managing Director of the German Design Council. The great importance which CEO’s and designers attach to the official Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany can be clearly seen in the large number of nominations: either gold or silver has been awarded to the best achievements from a pool of 1,200 entries.
