Mitsubishi Motors Philippines identifies 270 units of Lancers to be recalled

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines in a press statement said that it has already identified the 270 units of Lancers to be recalled due to horn pad malfunction which was reported to the office of Undersecretary Adrian Cristobal, Jr. of the Department and Trade and Industry late last month. The Lancer defect lies in the horn contact ring that was not tightened sufficiently at the assembly stage, thus when the driver presses the horn, the contact ring may become detached, and the horn will not make a sound.
Mr. Kengo Takase, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Philippines said that MMPC has already mobilized its Service Operations Department to trace the units from its customer and vehicle data.
The 270 affected 1996 Lancer 1.3 models were identified to have the following SERIAL/CHASSIS NUMBERS:
He said that all the Mitsubishi Motors Philippines service centers nationwide have been alerted to implement the inspection and replacement of the defective horn cover assembly of the affected units on a free of charge basis.
