Bosch continues to sponsor the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters DTM racing. The company prolonged its successful partnership with the important Europe-wide motor sports series for another three years. At the same time, Blaupunkt, a Bosch subsidiary, has confirmed its endorsement in the DTM for the next year.
Wolfgang Chur, member of the Board of Management of Robert Bosch GmbH said, "Our cooperation with the DTM will continue and far exceed a mere sponsorhip. All vehicles in the series will have on board highly sophisticated racing technology from Bosch." As in previous years, all DTM racing cars the AMG Mercedes CLK, the Opel Astra V8 Coupé as well as the Audi TT-R will be equipped with Bosch engine management systems.
Various parameters may be individually set with the Bosch motor sports control units. Powerful evaluation tools make analysis of data of the finished laps possible. This provides the racing team engineers with the ability to compare results from different settings. And this, in turn, will permit a quicker and more targeted tuning of the engine and vehicle.
The Bosch engine management system offers maximum computing power thanks to the eight-cylinder engines. The touring car Motronic, encased in a solid housing, is extremely resistant to excessive vibrations and temperatures.
A number of other Bosch products will also be installed in the DTM racing cars. These include display instruments in the cockpit, sensors, injection valves, spark plugs, starters and alternators.
Bosch engineering is not only highly successful in the DTM series but also in the 24-hour endurance race of LeMans. Through the years 2001 to 2003, the winners were cars equipped with gasoline direct injection systems from Bosch. In Formula 3 racing, Bosch practically equips all teams worldwide with engine management as well as data collection systems.
