Environment-friendly E-bikes hit the roads

A new electronic bike or "E-bike", a hybrid bicycle equipped with a battery-powered electric motor, has made it to the Philippines. Economic, safe and environment-friendly, the Tronix E-bike offers point-to-point transportation the futuristic way.

The Tronix E-bike was conceptualized by Ramon Castillo on November 2002 after he saw the success of E-bikes in other countries abroad. E-bikes represent the beginning of an electric transportation system that can revolutionize people transport because they are clean, quiet, electronically-powered and are fitted with world-class specifications. With an E-bike, you can cruise along short distances with a maximum speed of 30 kp/h.

The Tronix E-bike is designed to be virtually maintenance-free. It requires no gasoline or oil and is fueled by two 12-volt DC, Ampere-hour, sealed lead-acid batteries. The steel alloy mountain bike frameset only weighs a total of 32 kilograms. Gears include standard bike sprockets and freewheels, plus a belt-drive for motors and Cantilever brakes.
