Volvo Personvagnar AB Motor (Volvo Cars Engines) in Skovde recently received the highly prestigious World Class Award for Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) the first engine manufacturer and only the fourth company in the world to do so.
"This award is strong evidence of the long-term perspective, the enduring durability and the efficiency-enhancing improvements that we have brought to bear in all our processes and functions," says Thomas Andersson, site manager at Volvo Personvagnar Motor (Volvo Cars Engines).
Andersson attributes their success to systematic improvements in quality, delivery precision and the cost of both production and administration. Such strategic moves allowed Volvo to keep pace with improvements and succeed in reducing disruptions to the production process, including the supply chain.
Volvos strict focus on core concerns and unceasing dedication to efficiency and improvement has allowed it to reap financial rewards for both the company and their consumers.
"Today, we build better and above all cheaper engines that considerably boost the factorys position and competitiveness in a tough operating climate," concludes Andersson.
The World Class Award was handed over by the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) at an official ceremony in Japan last December 9, 2003.
In Manila, Viking Cars, Incorporated is the official dealer of Volvo cars. The Volvo Makati office, showroom and Aftersales Service Center are located at 2272 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City while Volvo Ortigas Center is located at 88 ADB Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.
