Trevor Stott-Briggs, Chief Executive Officer of Westfield Export Sales and Trade Inc. (WEST), recently announced the entry of British hand-built Westfield Sports Cars in the Philippine Market.
WEST, the exclusive importer and distributor of Westfield Cars in the country, aims to provide Philippine car enthusiasts the best and fastest sports cars built in the traditional British style. Westfield Sports Cars are designed in unique retro style and are customized to meet the driving needs of many types of motorists.
WEST also intends to promote and run a One-Make Race series for the Westfield. This will give Westfield drivers the chance to try their cars in all types of racing. Westfield is so versatile that the race series would include circuit races at Subic and Batangas. Drag races, slaloms, hill climbs and an endurance race would give drivers the chance to try all forms of motorsports in their Westfield Sports Cars.
Westfield has a wide range of options. Engine options range from 1600cc Ford or Mazda variants through 1800cc, 2000cc to V8 muscle car power, complete with twin burbling exhaust. At the other end of the scale, the same basic chassis can have full race suspension added, racing seats and high revving (14,000 rpm) superblue engines from the Suzuki Hyabusa with a six speed sequential gearbox.
The chassis is made of high-tensile steel square section tube welded up onto strong but light space frame, which is then powder coated to protect against rust. The suspension on all four corners is double A-arm and is fully adjustable front and rear for camber, castor, toe in/out, ride height, and shock absorber stiffness. The car can also have fully adjustable sway bars front and rear. The rear suspension can be solid axle on parallel arms with panhard rod or fully independent with center mounted differential and drive shafts. The differential can have an optional LSD for better traction.
Trevor Stott-Briggs started rallying in Kenya and East Africa between 1976 to 1981, participated in club, national and international events including supporting both Nissan and Mercedes Benz teams in the East African Safari. Based in Manila for the last 22 years, he has competed in circuit racing, national and international rallies, rally crosses, slaloms and kart races within the Philippines and international events in Indonesia and Malaysia.
