Frontier tops pickup sales anew

-
A grand slam it is.

For the third consecutive year, the Nissan Frontier claims top honors as the country’s best selling double cab compact pickup. 2002 figures released by the Truck Manufacturer’s Association of the Philippines show an impressive 34.6-percent domination of the total pickup market for the brand, almost 14 percentage points ahead of the second placed competition.

The Frontier managed to gain a slight increase in market share from last year’s performance with posted sales of 2,275 units, despite the general slowdown experienced by the economy and the introduction of new models from the competitors in the latter half of the year. More impressive is the Frontier’s gain in market share from 31.5 percent in 2001 to last year’s 34.6 percent.

This stellar achievement is proof of the consumers confidence in the performance, durability, style and high resale value of the Nissan Frontier. And further attests that the Frontiers’ creature comforts such as full leather-clad interiors, woodgrain paneling, four-spoke steering, white meter gauges, automatic transmission and in-cash CD and remote are more than enough to satisfy the most discriminating of customers.

With a three-peat already in the bag, is a fourth title in sight? Very likely. In an aggressive move for early sales dominance, manufacturer Universal Motors Corp. (UMC) has unveiled the radically redesigned Frontier 2003. Sporting a bolder, industrial-inspired body, sedan-like cabin, all-new headlamps, a flashier front grille and tailgate, this latest incarnation of the Frontier appears more than ready to carry on the brand’s Number One tradition.

The Nissan Frontier is available in 4 x 4 and 4 x 2 models, with automatic or manual transmission. Universal Motors Corp. is the exclusive assembler and distributor of the Nissan Light Commercial and Recreational Vehicles in the Philippines.
