PLDT goes for Suzuki Bravo

-
Philippine Long Distance and Telephone Co. believes it made the right decision in choosing the Suzuki Bravo to be its new service utility vehicle.

The move stemmed from a study done almost two years ago by Ernani J. Tumimbang, fleet manager of PLDT, on the "right" service utility vehicle for the company. Tumimbang realized that it would be more economical to buy new service utility vehicles rather than maintain the old vehicles, since the company is in its cost-cutting program.

"Value of ownership is more important than acquisition cost," Tumimbang said. Vehicles acquired seven years ago are more expensive to maintain in the next three years than the new vehicles purchased in the same period.

Early 2002, seven different automotive companies such as, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Ford, Isuzu, Columbia, and World Star presented prototypes to PLDT. Only two brands were selected, and GM AutoWorld – Makati/Heidelberg Motors Corporation was picked to provide the chosen vehicle – the Suzuki Bravo.

The smart-sized Suzuki Bravo is all about power, economy and efficiency, customized and perfected for its users where it capitalizes in comfort and convenience. Nikki Junia, special accounts officer of GM Autoworld Makati, said it took them two years to come up with the design that would please PLDT.

"During this period, designing, experimentation and evaluation took place. All the hard work and time spent to this project surely paid off," she said.
