MANILA, Philippines -  Industrial equipment – whether it’s for a restaurant, laundry shop, small café or a food cart – are some of the important aspects that keep a business’ operations running smoothly. “People are starting to realize that down time on equipment meant opportunity loss. Buying any equipment, however cheap it may be, will not justify the opportunity losses and the (negative) effect on their business if they cannot operate at their optimum level,” points out  Roland Versoza, Technolux president,  speaking from his years of experience with Technolux, the country’s largest importer and distributor of a complete line of foodservice, small wares, laundry and cleaning equipment.

With a manpower complement close to about 400, Technolux has amassed a sterling portfolio of clients since its establishment in the late ’70s when foreign companies began taking notice of the country’s tourism potential and built hotels around the metro.  “William Stelton, our chairman and CEO, saw the opportunity that the industry needed a reliable partner to support the growing demand. Technolux then beefed up its foodservice equipment brands from the ‘80s to the ‘90s,”   Versoza explains.

Over the years, Technolux has forged a robust relationship with various businesses including hotels, resorts, hospitals, manufacturing and industrial plants, restaurants, quick service restaurants, convenience stores and  other institutions involved in the foodservice and hospitality industry, creating a long history of trustworthiness and reliability.

Today, it distributes over a hundred brands under four main categories: foodservice equipment, smallwares, laundry, and ingredients & consumables. Most of these brands are exclusively distributed by the company including such popular names as Manitowoc Ice Machines, Taylor Soft Serve Freezers and Frymaster Fryers, all of which are directly imported from the USA. 

Making things happen for businesses

Technolux takes great pride in being recognized as a business that puts its customers on top priority.  In fact, the company has invested in a system software and a call center facility that takes calls from their customers, 24/7.

“We always revert back to our basic tool in selling which is all about relationship. More than just a supplier, we are a business partner and consultant,” Versoza adds.

With their customers’ convenience in mind, Technolux built a 2,500-sqm facility called the Mall of Kitchens in Makati which doubles as a showroom and one-stop shop fully stocked with the highest quality merchandise readily available from the rack.  Aside from Makati, Technolux also has satellite branches in Cebu, Davao and Boracay.

Explains Versoza, “We regularly visit tradeshows in different parts of the world. However, our latest products are not just about what is new in the market. Most of them are standard products that address the need to improve the industry like energy efficiency, ergonomics and value for money. Furthermore, it is critical for us that we establish lasting relationships with our manufacturers.”

Technolux also helps start-ups get their business off the ground via the Technolux By Design, a consultancy division which offers expert advice on coming up with an appropriate design for a particular business integrated with the right and most practical equipment. 

The company handles a complete end-to-end business process which involves pre-sale, sales and after-sales service. Service capabilities include layout & design, erection-supervision, installation & commissioning and more importantly after-sales service which includes spare parts supply and maintenance.
