Paying homage to Corregidor and its heroes

BUSINESS CHIC - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star

A special World War II documentary entitled “Corregidor: The Road Back” was recently premiered at the US Embassy, bringing together ambassadors, members of diplomatic corps, renowned historians and researchers, war veterans, and other VIPs. Written and produced by Peter Parsons and Lucky Guillermo of Spyron-AV Manila and sponsored by Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB), “Corregidor: The Road Back” is a 53-minute documentary featuring never-before-seen footages of the battles in Corregidor interspersed with interviews with surviving American and Filipino soldiers. The documentary narrates scenes during the capture of Corregidor by the Japanese in 1942 and its eventual recapture by American forces three years later during the liberation of the Philippines. The gala premiere held at the Charles Parsons Ballroom of the US Embassy was well-attended by notable personalities that included former president Fidel V. Ramos, US Ambassador Philip Goldberg, former Finance secretary and PVB chairman Roberto de Ocampo, and James Zobel of The MacArthur Memorial in Norfolk, Virginia. We acknowledge that war is an integral part of any country’s history. We learn from the wounds of the past and it should never be forgotten.

Soaring high for the Philippine tourism industry

Helping to further boost the country’s tourism industry by promoting the mesmerizing beauty of the island paradise of Boracay is the top-notch Boracay Regency Beach Resort and Spa, a Henann resort, as it continues to take part in major travel expos here and abroad. The triple A-rated resort, owned and managed by the Henann Group of Resorts under the leadership of chairman Dr. Henry Chusuey, has already participated in two leading expos at the start of the year – the Asean Tourism Forum held in Kuching, Malaysia and the Philippine Travel Agencies Association’s (PTAA) Travel Tour Expo held at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. Taking charge of all the booth activities was the hardworking Henann Group of Resorts marketing team led by vice president for marketing Karl Chusuey and Boracay Regency Beach Resort and Spa director for sales and marketing Isabel Garcia. The two travel expos recorded resounding success for the premiere resort as it received numerous guest bookings. Congratulations to the entire Henann Group of Resorts team for these worthwhile endeavors!
