Shaping a brighter future

BUSINESS CHIC - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star

The future looks bright for our country as Filipino students are being honed to become socially responsible entrepreneurs and leaders by the international, non-profit organization Enactus. Each year, a series of regional and national competitions is held in the member countries including the Philippines, where student-teams from member universities showcase the community projects they have created and implemented that have empowered locals to improve their quality of life and standard of living. The country’s national finals organized by Enactus Philippines under the leadership of chairman Jose ‘Joey’ Leviste, Jr. was held at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City and featured 12 competing teams, with Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) emerging as the national champion. MMSU then represented the Philippines to the 2013 Enactus World Cup in Cancun, Mexico where they reached the semi-final round, competing against the country teams of Nigeria, Guatemala, Azerbaijan and Russia. The MMSU Enactus team project using dragonfruits was greatly appreciated for the livelihood created and positive impact it has made on the lives of the many beneficiaries in Ilocos Norte. Congratulations to Joey and the entire Enactus Philippines organization for the successful national finals! Kudos to the MMSU Enactus Team for bringing honor to our country!
