MANILA, Philippines - Technology firm Lenovo is aiming to become the leader in the local smartphone market in three to four years as it offers affordable but quality products that cater to all segments.
“We want to be the market leader eventually here...in three or four years,†Lenovo Group vice president JD Howard told reporters.
He said the firm intends to dominate thePhilippine smartphone market by providing products that cater to all segments.
“Whether it is high-end, middle market or low-end, we will try to bring something unique,†he said.
He also said that as the firm has tapped basketball superstar Kobe Bryant who represents passion in his performance, as the endorser of its flagship smartphone K900, he is hopeful that they can gain market share here.
Lenovo is currently selling the following smartphone models in the country: the K900, the P780 designed for professionals, the slim, large-screen phone S920 as well as the affordable A706 and entry level phone A390.
Howard said the Philippines was among the first countries where the Lenovo smartphones were launched given the big market and its similarities to China.
Just like Chinese consumers, he said Filipinos also want products that are innovative and of good quality which Lenovo can offer.
He said that apart from the great quality of Lenovo smartphones, the offerings are also more affordable.
The flagship smartphone K900 is priced at P22,999, while the entry level model is available at P4,999.
And while most smartphones offered in the market now have short battery life, Howard said Lenovo smartphones are more reliable as it can be used for two to three days without charging.
Such qualities, he said, make Lenovo a more reliable choice.
“We can have market dominance with great quality, great experience and great innovation,†he added.
