BUSINESS CHIC - Johnny Litton -

The Philippine alumni clubs of the top universities in the US, namely, Columbia, Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Northwestern Kellogg, Stanford and Wharton-Penn, successfully held another business forum with Transportation and Communications secretary Mar Roxas as guest speaker. A Wharton-Penn ’79 alumnus, Mar shared his plans and strategies in line with President Aquino’s vision of efficient and safe public transport operations to further link up the country. Attendees include Golden Arches Development Corp. chairman George Yang, PLDT chairman Manny Pangilinan and Transportation and Communications undersecretary Timmy Limcaoco. We share your dream of realizing a truly modern transport and logistics network for the Philippines, Mar!

A life well lived

Marking his milestone at the Rockwell Club in Makati was the much-admired civic leader Frank Evaristo who just turned 70. Over 400 guests attended—a true measure of how well loved the man is, with family flocking to honor him led by Frank’s mother-in-law, Rufina Saldana. The genial president of the Alay Lakad Foundation and vice president of Rotary Club of Manila was joined by his five children Jun Jun, Amy, Caroline, Carlo and Lorraine and his grandchildren in welcoming distinguished guests from the government and diplomatic circles and the media as well. Everyone had a wonderful time, with overflowing food and drinks, surprise song numbers from George Tagle and Muebles Italiano president and chief executive officer Noel Gonzales, and all-night dancing. Indeed, it was a most memorable way to celebrate 70 years of a life well lived. Businessman, journalist, devoted father, a man with a heart of gold... To Frank, here’s to many more birthdays to come!
