'One home at a time': ING marks 20th year in RP

-

MANILA, Philippines - Cementing its 20-year commitment of doing business in the Philippines and making a difference “one home at a time,” ING Bank Manila recently extended P2.125 million in donation to Habitat for Humanity Philippines (Habitat) to give a fresh boost to the organization’s community-building projects.

For its 20th anniversary this October, ING Bank is targeting another 100 houses, this time at the Bayanijuan sa Calauan, a community in Laguna comprised of former settlers along the Pasig River whose homes were damaged or destroyed during Typhoon Ondoy. In conjunction with ABS-CBN Foundation, ING Foundation has joined hands with Habitat to help build an initial 25 homes, which eventually will be an ING Village with 100 homes. ING Foundation also donated housing repair kits to nearly a hundred families in Bulacan province affected by typhoon Ondoy.

“The mission of ING Bank is to make a difference one home at a time. We hope to celebrate our 20th anniversary of doing business in the Philippines by also showing our social commitment to help improve the lives of Filipinos. We do this by partnering with like-minded organizations such as Habitat for Humanity,” said Consuelo Garcia, ING Bank’s Country Manager in the Philippines.

ING and Habitat have been long-time building partners in a mission to create quality communities in the country. Five years ago, ING Bank sponsored its first ING Village in Baseco, Tondo to mark its 15th anniversary in the country. Funds for the project were raised through a variety of sources. The first ING Village benefited more than 170 families. The first 50 houses were sponsored by ING Bank Manila while subsequent constructions were funded by local and international ING executives and from proceeds from ING-sponsored fundraising events.
