MMLDC gets recognition for human resource management
MANILA, Philippines - The Meralco Development Center (MMLDC) renewed its commitment to adhering to the standards and principles of good business practice through the continued implementation of the global standards of human resource management, receiving a re-certification from the UK Certification on Investors in People (IiP).
The plaque and certificate recognizing the re-certification of MMLDC was given during the PMAP general membership Meeting last Oct. 28, 2009 at the Intercon Hotel, Makati City. It was accepted by Leonisa dela Llana, MMLDC Vice President; Agnes Fidelino, MMLDC Managing Director; and Vivien Arnobit, MMLDC Director of Academic Services.
The IiP is a standard that focuses on people development. MMLDC, being a IiP-certified institution, ensures that employee capability and development is recognized. It aims to motivate employees to further be of service to clients and stakeholders, prompting the latter to support the organization. Improved performance productivity is also visible because skilled and motivated employees achieve better performance and productivity.
“Employees and contractors of MMLDC are encouraged to perform their duties through greater involvement, personal development and recognition of their achievements. These lead to positive indicators including higher morale, improved quality of service and higher customer satisfaction,” said Ms. Fidelino.
Employees and departments were able to determine clearer linkages to the corporate goals. MMLDC was able to devise a very strong internal communication program that utilizes different kinds of meetings to achieve multiple purposes, which in turn led to better teamwork in the delivery of customer satisfaction.
The certification was granted to MMLDC after a two-day thorough assessment conducted by Ms. Teresita Villanueva, FPM from the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP). PMAP is the accredited organization that works in cognizance with IiP and is currently the sole certifying body of Investors in People in the Philippines.
