World Citi Colleges strengthens programs to meet global industry demands
MANILA, Philippines - To keep up with the challenging demands of the times, professionals are arming themselves with additional skills to be globally competitive and more well-rounded in the workplace.
Nurses, in particular, should not only know by heart and practice efficiently the principles they’ve learned in school. Most employers, particularly in foreign countries, expect them to possess other skills related to hospital management and in operating modern medical equipment.
Constantly updated curriculum
World Citi Colleges believes that the Nursing course is still in demand but since the competition is getting stiff and market is searching for a better workforce, WCC is regularly updating its curriculum to match the needs of the current healthcare industry.
The Techno Nursing Program is one of World Citi Colleges’ latest innovations. It brings to its students a wider range of career opportunities which they can explore even before its graduates pass the board exams and eventually fulfill their dream of becoming a nurse.
Nursing students from World Citi Colleges are encouraged to acquire other skills and earn additional certificates that can make them globally competitive. By taking additional electives, they won’t just graduate as nurses but can also be knowledgeable in operating and managing the latest medical diagnostic equipment. They can even learn ward management and other pertinent education that will help them advance further in their chosen career.
Another newly-improved course is entrepreneurial pharmacy which integrates business principles into the usual curriculum.
WCC pharmacy students are taught to formulate products that they can sell to earn additional income. More importantly, they are also trained to market these products. This special feature in their course makes them more business oriented and seeks to hone their entrepreneurial skills so even after they graduate they are ready to setup their own businesses.
Hands-on training/internship
Unlike other students, the nursing students of WCC also have to their advantage the rare opportunity of holding their practicum/internship at the WCC’s own hospital, the World Citi Medical Center, a level four training hospital. World Citi Medical Center caters to both local and high-end, foreign patient providing nursing students the diverse experience necessary for their training and total development.
It will further prepare them for their future work. The same goes for students of physical therapy, medical technology, radiologic technology and pharmacy, still among the in-demand courses today.
School of International Hospitality Management students from World Citi Colleges will not only get to train at its mock-up hotels but also gain hands-on training at other hospitality companies such as the El Pinoy Dive-in Resort in Anilao, Batangas, El Pinoy Fly-in Resort in Binalonan, Pangasinan, and the chartered flight services of WCC Aviation Co.
An institution reinvented
