Going strong at 53

Honorary consul of the Republic of Zambia Louie Ablaza  and his lovely wife, Honorary consul of Guatemala Mellie Ablaza, recently hosted a dinner at their Makati residence to celebrate the 53rd founding anniversary of the Chamber of Pawnbrokers of the Philippines Inc. (CPPI), the national organization of over 16,000 pawnshop owners that operate all over the country.  The highlight of the evening was the induction of this year’s elected officers and directors.  Guest of honor was the young and dedicated Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. who inducted consul Louie Ablaza, as CPPI president for the 12th consecutive year! Dinner of roast duck salad, passion fruit sorbet, pan-fried lemon sole fillet, pan seared ostrich tenderloin and flambéed mango  was prepared by chef  Jessie Sincioco of Le Souffle while fabulous flutist Ray Sison of ROS Music Center enthralled the guests. It was indeed an evening of pure gastronomic and musical delight. Congratulations!

An all-out community dance groove

Witness the biggest dance extravaganza with over 200 participants from ages 4 to 75 as they take center stage in this year’s “Pasinaya: Summer Na! Bel-Air Pa! New Wave Pa!” from May 8 to 10 at the club house grounds. Organized by Barangay Bel-Air in cooperation with the Women of Bel-Air Foundation Inc, the three-day event will feature homeowners and their children dancing to the beat of hits like the classic “The Beach Boys Medley,” the modern “Tutti Frutti,” and the groovy hip-hop dance suite “Let’s Get Together,” as well as Bel-Air officers dancing to the foot-stomping rhythm of foxtrot and mambo. Led by veteran stage director Floy Quintos and festival director Constancia Lichauco along with choreographers John Co and Cecille Martinez, the fabulous extravaganza which aims to foster a strong bayanihan spirit and exceptional bond in the community, is truly of the most highly-anticipated and must-see event this season. See you there!
