Citibank is best bank in RP for 5th year in a row

Asset Magazine awarded Citi in the Philippines with twin recognitions during the annual Asset Asian Awards Dinner held in Hong Kong on January 15, 2009.

Citi Philippines won Best Bank for the fifth consecutive year, and Best Foreign Investment Bank for the second consecutive year.

The editors of Asset Magazine also awarded Citi as Best Bank in Asia for the ninth year in a row. The Asset Magazine is one of Asia’s leading financial magazines.

“This recognition from the Asset Magazine is testament to the dedication and performance of our employees across the region. To be awarded best bank nine years in a row is a great honour, especially as Asia becomes even more competitive. I would also like to thank our clients who continue to place their trust in us,” said Ajay Banga, CEO Asia Pacific for Citi.

Citi was also awarded Best Bank in Australia, China, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan. Product awards included Best Foreign Investment Bank in India, Best Debt House in Australia, Best Equity House in Hong Kong and South Korea and Best M&A House in Taiwan. Citi was also awarded Best Regional Equity House and Best Telecom, Media and Technology investment banking house in Asia.

In 2008, Citi raised over $20 billion for its Asian clients across the region from debt and equity capital markets and was also involved on M&A transactions worth in excess of $60 billion, according to data from Dealogic.
