Nexen formally launches tire products in the country

With smarter, savvier Filipino motorists plying the roads of tomorrow, Nexen is their brand of choice.

And recently the Korean tire brand formally launched its product line here in the Philippines through the event, “Driving Tomorrow” at the Bonifacio High Street.

In his speech, Jaycoben Reyes, general manager of Macro Auto Corp., the distributors of Nexen in the country, said that Filipino motorists today do not spare much thought on their tires. “They simply install it in their vehicles, and that’s the end of the story.”

With Nexen’s entry to the market, things are bound to change. It brings high performance tires at the best price point. Thus, it places itself in the middle of a big niche in a market composed essentially of only two groups. One group settles for cheap, but low quality tires that don’t last long, while the other buys good quality at similarly upscale prices.

Nexen brings with it an impressive resume dating back to several decades. Nexen now makes tires for 120 countries. It has passed the strictest standards of quality that the unforgiving European tire industry demands for years now. This year, Nexen will sponsor Prodrift, Europe’s leading drift series. Nexen will also enter its own team in this prestigious motorsport competition.

In case of the Philippine market, corporate and rental car companies are starting to take notice of their products. This is because Nexen has proven that their tires perform comparable to, and sometimes even better, than some of their more expensive counterparts.

John Paul Reyes, president of Macro Auto Corp., said that the customers of tomorrow will expect nothing less.

“These motorists will expect and demand better performance from their tires that answer to their safety needs, while giving the best value for their money. And these people will know how to get them. Technological advances have enabled motorists to become more interconnected to each other, sharing knowledge not commonly found before,” he explained.
