Amex Peso Platinum concierge raises bar for personalized service

-

Just three years after its launch, American Express Peso Platinum card has grown its business by offering a concierge service like no other in the industry.

Just recently, for instance, the American Express Platinum concierge service contacted South African athlete Roland Schoeman, holder of three world records in swimming, upon a Cardmembers’ request. Schoeman is based in Tucson, Arizona.

Grace D. Limjap, Amex card marketing head, recalls: “We received a call from our member requesting for assistance on how he could train with Mr. Schoeman, the fastest swimmer in the world. The client wanted to know if we could make his dream possible and we did.”

Upon securing the athlete’s contact information, Amex inquired about one-on-one trainings. After a few days, Mr. Schoeman himself replied and said he could conduct the personal training for the Cardmember. Limjap recalls, “We closely coordinated with both parties on their time availability and travel requirements.” The Amex card member is scheduled to fly to Arizona this month to begin his training.

This personalized service, nevertheless, is not unique to Peso Platinum Cardmembers. Amex cardmembers around the region enjoy a similar service. The bonus for Peso Platinum clients is that when in Hongkong, Singapore and other Asian capitals, they can avail of the same service thanks to Amex’s regional setup.

Thus, when a Hong Kong-based Amex Cardmember required assistance in purchasing 50 cups of Haagen Dazs ice cream to be delivered to a friend in Makati the next day, getting support from the local concierge was easy. Amex’s Philippine office assisted its Hong Kong counterpart in purchasing and delivering the product.

“Our concierge called the Haagen Dazs shops in Makati, and was able to coordinate with the Glorietta branch in guaranteeing 50 pieces of assorted ice cream cups to be picked up at the designated time. The concierge then arranged for the pick-up and delivery of the products to the Enterprise Center at 2 p.m. on July 6,” Limjap recalled.

Also recently, Amex received an overseas call from another Cardmember requesting for delivery of a chocolate ice cream cake with flowers to mark the birthday of his mother who lives in Alabang. The call was made at 3 a.m., Philippine time. The cake was delivered at 3 p.m. of the same day as requested by the client.

Both here and in eight countries in the Asia Pacific, American Express Peso Platinum Cardmembers have become accustomed to having the concierge service do restaurant and hotel bookings for them, assist in sourcing hard-to-find items, and fulfill other unique requests. “They know that Amex takes its concierge service seriously and will pull out all stops to please a client. That’s what distinguishes our premium service from that offered by others,” Limjap states.
