Integrative learning integrates all

- Carla Paras-Sison -
Integrative Learning International Inc. (IL), a Philippine-based knowledge services company, is celebrating its 20th year this month chalking up more clients for a range of outsource training and development programs from executive performance coaching and diversity training to leadership effectiveness and developing world-class work habits.

IL executive director Menchi I. Diokno said, "we have worked with more than 200 organizations in the Philippines, Asia and North America. For the first half of 2006, we’ve conducted 22 programs for 18 clients already and the demand for our programs continues to climb. "

Among IL’s satisfied clients are Manel’s for 10 years, Unilever in 11 countries for 15 years, Singapore Training and Development Association, Hewlett Packard, SPI Technologies, Ayala Land Inc., Canadian International Development Agency (Ottawa), Intel Philippines, Amkor Technology Philippines, L’Oreal Philippines, University of Malaysia (Sarawak), Telekoms Malaysia, Colombo Business Institute (Sri Lanka), On-Semiconductors, Industrial and Vocational Training Board (Mauritius) and Liverpool School (Syracuse, New York).

"We are also the outsource partner of Citigroup Asia Pacific and Nokia Philippines," Diokno added.

This is quite a feat for a company with a regular staff of five and 11 consultants. More so considering it began with a workforce of one and just two consultants.

IL president Jerry Perez de Tagle believes that the business leaders, corporate executives, functional unit managers and human resource practitioners who choose IL programs are those who want to "transform their organizations, create breakthroughs, and celebrate the greatness of life."

IL advocates the multiple intelligence theory of Howard Gardner and links all its courses to an organization’s bottom line. Appropriate metrics and indicators are used to monitor the effectiveness of management interventions, and strategies are designed to be sustainable by the organization long after the program has been completed. Hence, the rapid learning sticks.

"Our technology is so comprehensive that it creates a total mind-heart-body transformation. We customize our programs to tailor fit to the specific needs of our clients. It is our corporate policy that price should not be an issue for the client and us not to work together. We create a win-win scenario both for the company management and the individuals covered by the training," said Perez de Tagle.

In addition, the IL approach balances IQ and EQ or emotional intelligence in change management. This allows organizations to practice a multicultural respect for diversity and accomplish change that is empowering "without guilt and blame."

"Other programs offer only short term, patch work solutions. On the other hand, IL’s expertise in various disciplines makes sure that all bases are covered in our clients’ roadmap to success. Paradigm shifts and system change in the heart-mind-body of the organization come hand-in-hand with a focus on bottom line results and long-term culture change," Perez de Tagle stressed.
