With a keen understanding of such patient concerns, dermatologist Arianee Vasquez-Santos established Aesthetic Science, a clinic that provides medicine-based cosmetic dermatology and plastic surgery. It offers affordable skin and body care treatments in the relaxing and soothing ambience of a spa. This is now referred to as spa therapeutics.
"We saw the need for credible and effective solutions to rejuvenate the face and the body. We aim to provide the best experience for patients," said Vasquez-Santos, who heads the Aesthetic Science team of doctors with specialties in surgical procedures such as liposuction, nose lift, breast augmentation, blepharoplasty (eyebag or eyelid reduction) and others. Her team has an average experience of 10 years in the field of dermatology and cosmetic surgery.
Vasquez-Santos, herself a medical doctor, apprenticed with an Italy-trained cosmetic dermatologist for two years, before joining the Belo Medical Group and heading its Alabang branch for over two years. She also attended training modules with doctors in Beverly Hills, Italy, and Spain, and is a member of the International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatologists and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.
Asked why she decided to become an entrepreneur instead of remaining with the very stable and already famous Belo Medical Group, Vasquez-Santos said, "I have always wanted to put up my own clinic. I like doing research work and I have a passion for helping people achieve healthy skin. Like any normal person, there were hesitations, but I got encouragement and strength from my family, friends and patients."
For a rather small clinic of 134 square meters, Aesthetic Science is able to offer a complete range of facial and body treatments including a variety of facial cleaning and massages, an array of body scrubs and massages, skin peels, mesotherapy, warts removal, keloid treatment, bleaching, liposuction, breast augmentation and other surgical procedures.
Less than six months old, the clinic is already operating at 80 percent of its capacity, accommodating clients in private rooms each equipped with a shower facility. Cleaning and facials are popular, with the so-called Diamond peel in heavy demand. Every client must consult with an Aesthetic Science doctor prior to the first treatment.
"We just don’t give treatments without assessing the needs of a patient. Our treatments are medical-based. We do not offer services or products which were not extensively studied and reviewed. Aestheticians, who are nurses and physical therapists, undergo rigid training and regular seminars on skin and body treatments. We are not commercial in nature, so we give attention to patient’s specific skin problem. Compared to other establishments, we may have less volume, but we look into each and every treatment in a medical manner," Vazquez-Santos explained.
