Clinic space by the hour

Drawing inspiration from the hospitality industry, Healthlane Greenlanes Medical Center is a polyclinic where space can be rented by the hour.

"This way, if there is an emergency or the doctor and his patient are around the Greenhills area, they can meet here," said Healthlane owner Mario Muralla. "Our rental rates are competitive, allowing the doctors to pass on the savings to their clients through lower professional fees."

The polyclinic is part of the 2,000 square meter Beauty Central, a one-stop center for beauty and health at the mezzanine of the Greenlanes Bowling Center in the Greenhills Commercial Center.

"We rent space from Beauty Central and, in turn, we sub-rent space to doctors whom we carefully screen," said Muralla. "We provide doctors with space where they can be readily accessible to clients. The mall, with its high pedestrian traffic, is ideal."

Another plus factor is the crossover business that Healthlane-based doctors get from other stores within Beauty Central, ranging from a beauty salon to a store that sells the female version of Viagra to a travel agency.

"Having all these beauty and wellness businesses nearby makes the visit to the doctor enjoyable. While waiting for the doctor, a client can visit the coffee shop right across or browse in a magazine shop. A client can save time by bringing other members of the family in need of other medical services," said Muralla.

Aside from renting out space for medical consultations, Healthlane also rents out space for minor surgeries and for laboratory services such as blood chemistry and drug tests.
