Maybank donates to Yolanda victims

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Maybank Foundation Inc., through Medical Relief Society (MERCY), has donated RM200,000 (approximately P3 million) to Nasunugan Elementary School in Ormoc City, which was ravaged by Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) in 2013. Maybank Foundation chief executive officer Shahril Azuar Jimin said that last year has been a difficult year for some of our communities. He said the foundation needs to reach out to the affected communities, especially for those who have lost their homes or had their lives disrupted due to the recent disasters. “At times like these, we need to ensure that aid reaches the correct people at the correct time. We have seen MERCY Malaysia at work and we strongly believe that it is an ideal partner for us to channel aid to the affected communities,” he added.  The chief executive said in a message that one of the affected communities was the Nasunugan Elementary School in Ormoc, Philippines. “Through our collaboration, we are hoping that our contribution would help MERCY Malaysia in further expanding their noble humanitarian services,” he added.
